Overall Rules -
All tournament rulings should be made by consulting the FAQ and the most recent version of the rulebook found on this website.
Tournament Code of Honor (click here)
Please provide a copy of the following form (there are two forms on a single sheet on this file) to all players. *ConanPlayerChronicle1.0.pdf*
After all players have filled the form out, collect them, and shuffle them. Put the Player Chronicle forms together in pairs, writing the name of each player on the form of their opponent. Announce the matchups, and allow the players to take their seats. (across from their respective opponents) Make sure the players don't start their games until you begin the round.
Making a note of the time, tell the players they can begin. Tournament rounds are limited to 1 hour. At the end of the hour, when you call time, let players finish the current Warrior Step if they are in one, and then move on to the Rest Step. (if a player is in their Prepare Step, their game immediately ends).
Players may not Press On after time is called. (and must complete their Rest Step)
If there is a winner at this time, the winning player will score a full victory. (worth 3 points) If a player has not won by this point, first go by Renown Points in the Chronicle Area. If these are tied, then check current Health for Conan. If THAT is tied, then check Scars. If even those are tied, the player with the most Foe Cards in their Chronicle Area (Number of Foes) is the victor. If those are tied, then use a random determination. The winner in this case will get a timed victory. (worth 2 points)
In either case, the losing player receives a loss. (worth 1 point)
Also be sure to record the difference in Renown. If a player wins by defeating the opposing player's Conan with their Foes, this means that they may win with a lower Renown. Don't worry, this is ok. This is only used for tiebreaker purposes.
When a game ends, collect the Player Chronicle forms and record the results of each game, recording the results for each player on their own card. This means that if Bob plays against Joe in round 2, and Bob wins, Bob's Player Chronicle would show the following - "Joe | Full Victory | 3 points | -4 Renown | 3 (-4)" (read this as: in Round 2, Bob played against Joe and won)
Once all the games have been completed and recorded, organize the cards by score, from highest points to lowest, using the Renown Difference total to break ties.
Match the players up in order. No player should play the same opponent twice, so if you come across a repeat match, try to take the player with the lower score and moving them down one position. Sometimes, especially in a smaller tournament, it will not be possible to avoid repeat matches. Do the best you can.
Tournaments should run a minimum of 4 rounds, but try not to run tournaments for too long, or you'll be forced to repeat matchups. Also, if a tournament goes for 6 or more rounds, please try to plan for a food break of at least 30 minutes somewhere in the middle of the event. Everyone needs a break once in a while!
When matching players up, if they have the same point total AND the same Renown difference, use the Strength of Schedule method. In this method, take the total scores of all of the two player's past opponents, dropping the lowest score from each player's list of opponents. The higher total wins the tie. If even THIS is tied, the player who won the last round wins. If both players won/lost the last round, then the player with the highest Renown difference from the last round wins. If all of these things are tied, use a random determination of your choice.
Constructed Deck Rules -
Constructed Deck events will use the following rules:
Each player must have:
1 Conan Card
a Foe Deck with exactly 25 Foe Cards (with a total Renown of 95-105)
a Draw Deck with 40 or more cards
All decks must comply with the deck construction rules found in the glossary of the rulebook.
Decks may not be changed between rounds.
Sealed Deck Rules -
Sealed Deck events will use the following rules:
Each player must have a starter and two booster packs.
Players open their cards and have 20 minutes to construct their decks.
They must have:
1 Conan Card
20-25 Foe Cards
40 or more Draw Deck cards.
Players may use any cards they pull, even going over the normal 3-per
deck card limit. However, Unique cards are still limited to one per
deck.
If a player is somehow unable to make these limits with the cards given,
the tournament director has the authority to come up with an appropriate
solution. It is suggested that Tournament Directors have a ready supply
of extra Common cards (Foes, Moves, etc.) for this possibility.
