I. Updates
These updates are changes and clarifications to how the game should be played.
Retreat
The Conan player may NOT retreat if they have 0 Renown.
Allies
Ally cards may be played from the hand during the Survey Phase by losing Renown equal to
that Ally's printed Renown. Do NOT utilize the Ally's Draw: ability if the Ally is played this way.
Regions
When Foe Moves are revealed (during combat) players may discard any Regions in their hand
to draw the same number of cards. This may only be done once per round of combat.
Minor Foes
Minor Foes that are discarded for no effect by the Foe player are removed from the game.
(This would not affect Minor Foes discarded by Conan, discarded for their own effects, or discarded for Major Foes)
II. General
Renown Loss
If Conan retreats, or loses an Ally, or any other time the Foe player(s) may take back Renown from Conan’s Chronicle area, they cannot take more than the amount allowed. HOWEVER, If the amount allowed is less than the lowest-Renown card in Conan’s Chronicle area, you may take the single lowest Renown card back (or discard it if it is not a Foe). (see Warrior - Retreating)
You/Your/Conan
Whenever a card says you or your, and it’s played as the Conan/Active player, it refers to Conan. It does not refer to Allies or anyone else.
III. Cards & Card Parts
Ally
Q: If an unblocked Foe move has its Damage assigned to my Ally, and my Ally is defeated, what happens to the move they are performing (if they are performing a move) if it hasn’t resolved yet?
A: If the Ally’s move hasn’t resolved yet (i.e. zone that hasn’t resolved or slower/lower Initiative), their move is discarded, and this can create a situation where a Foe’s move is now unblocked. In this case, the Foe’s move will be able to Damage another Ally or Conan, assuming it hasn’t resolved yet.
Q: What if something needs to make my Ally pay a Prowess cost? How do I resolve that?
A: When an Ally plays a move (or takes another action that reduces their Prowess), their Prowess does not “reset” until the end of the Resolution Phase. Any amount they must lose/pay over what they have remaining would come from their Health, as per the normal rules.
Items
Q: Can my Ally benefit from an item?
A: No, unless otherwise specified, items only affect you/Conan.
Costs
Q: When I play an Action card, do I pay for the cost in the text and the Prowess gem, or just the text?
A: The only time you look at the Prowess gem is if you’re playing the card as a move. So, if you play an Action, you’d only look in the text area to see if there’s a cost.
Multi-icons
Q: Are multi-icons more than one icon? What can I do with them?
A: Multi-icons are still just one icon. They have multiple symbols in them, but still count as a single icon. Also, Multi-icons may never be replaced by other icons, such as by cards like Cover of Darkness.
IV. Steps
Prepare – Draw Abilities
Q: Say I play an Ally or Item that has the Draw: X ability. When do I draw the cards?
A: Cards drawn for the Draw: X ability are not drawn immediately. They are drawn at the end of the Prepare Step, before moving into the Warrior/Thief Step. You only draw for these cards during the Step they were played. You do not draw for cards with the Draw: X ability that were played during prior Step.
Warrior – Foe Draw
Q: I want to play a card, and so does my opponent. Who goes first?
A: Conan always gets the first chance to play an action in each phase/step. Then it alternates, Foe/Conan/Foe, and so on. In a multiplayer game, Conan still gets a chance between each Foe player. (Conan, Foe A, Conan, Foe B, and so on)
NOTE – This is a clarification. Since you MUST play a minimum of one Foe against Conan if possible, you may not discard all remaining playable Foes to create a situation where you are unable to play Foes against Conan. Such a situation MAY be caused by the Conan player. (example Foe Draw: Kappa Demon, 2 Khitai Bowman Foes, and 2 Kushite War Chief Foes. If you discard any of the Minor Foes for their text, you must keep at least one of them to play against Conan. You may not discard them all to force Conan to choose the Kappa Demon, since your hand began with playable Foes. If Conan plays Action cards to discard your Minor Foes, such a situation could be created. In this case, it would be legal.)
Warrior – Foe Moves
Q: When do I put Damage markers on a Foe if I play a move that’s going to hurt the Foe? (i.e. a higher Prowess cost than the Foe has Prowess)
A: The Damage MUST be placed when the move is played face-down. If a Foe move is revealed that should have Damaged the Foe but did not, that Foe is instantly defeated, and placed in Conan’s Chronicle Area. This is an illegal move in that situation.
Warrior – Retreating & Ally Loss
Q: What if Conan retreats, but the Scar count he retreats from is too low to allow me to retrieve a Foe from his Chronicle Area? (Example: Conan retreats from 3 Scars worth of Foes, and the lowest Renown Foe in his Chronicle Area is 4)
A: If this happens, First see if there are any non-Foe cards with a Renown value in his Chronicle Area. (such as Actions, Allies, etc) If no such cards are there, you may then retrieve the single lowest Renown Foe you find in his Chronicle Area. If you do find a non-Foe card, and its Renown value is low enough to satisfy the loss, discard the card (To the owner’s discard pile). There is no such thing as a “free” retreat, unless Conan has NO cards in his Chronicle Area.
Warrior – Resolution
Q: When do things that “hit” resolve?
A: They are checked when you first start to resolve the zone they are in. If the card specifies an Initiative value, the effect in question happens then. Otherwise, it happens before Initiative 5 is resolved. You still deal Damage at the normal time, but effects for being “hit” happen before Initiative 5.
Q: What happens if the middle Foe in a zone with 3 Foes in it is defeated?
A: The two outer Foes become adjacent.
NOTE – Allies that are placed on top of moves (in order to perform them) are placed in the “battleground” with Conan. Allies that are not participating in combat remain in the Item/Ally area with any Items Conan has in play. When players draw cards between rounds for Foes and Allies, players only draw cards for Allies that are actually participating in combat (that are out with Conan on the battlefield). Allies are returned to the Item/Ally area at the end of the Resolution Phase (which also resets their Prowess).
Rest – Foe Hand
Q: What if Conan retreats? Will the Foe player ever end the turn with less than 7 cards (or more than 7 cards)?
A: The Foe player should get back to 7 cards when the Active player does so during the Rest Step. At no time should a player begin their turn with more or less than 7 cards (without a specific card exception, which does not currently exist)
V. Card by card
1 Conan the Adventurer Conan F
Your <2H> icons deal 1 extra Damage to <Sh> icons. This means that if your <2H> icon is blocked by a <Sh> icon, it will deal 2 Damage through that Shield.
2 Conan the Bold Conan F
The Ally that you pull from your deck must be playable. This Ally does not ignore the rules for playing Allies.
3 Conan the Cimmerian Conan F
After you play a card with “Cimmerian” in the title, draw the card after any and all responses to that card have been played and resolved.
4 Conan the Defiant Conan F
After you play a move with a cost of 5 or higher, draw the card after any and all responses to that move have been played and resolved.
Q: How do Multi-icons work for this Conan?
A: Multi-icons are still just one icon, so if a multi-icon is unblocked, it’ll deal Conan’s base Damage for each symbol on the icon.
Q: Do extra hits still do +1 Damage with this Conan?
A: No, they do not. His ability replaces the normal Damage rules.
9 Helpless Victim Ally U
This Ally requires 7 Renown to be played.

Q: Can this card be played on a move played by an Ally?
A: No. It says “your” which limits it to Conan’s move.
48 Arrow through the Neck Action U
Q: Can this card be played on a move played by an Ally?
A: No. It says “your” which limits it to Conan’s move.
50 Back Against the Wall Action U
Q: Who chooses where the Foes go?
A: If you play a card that moves something, you choose unless the card specifies otherwise. In this case, you place the Foes into a zone of your choice, and on either side of the existing Foes. You may NOT place Foes between the Foes that are already in the zone, and you may NOT break apart the Foes you are moving, if there are more than one.
52 Distraction Action U
This card is misnumbered as 56.
54 Enemy Reinforced Action U
The card(s) you play with Enemy Reinforced must have ALL the same keywords, not just some. (Major, Minor, Aquilonia, etc.)

‘Your’ refers to Conan. This card does not affect the moves of Allies.
64 The Stuff of Legends Action U
Q: Can this card affect an Ally?

82 Will of Iron Action R
Q: Can this card affect an Ally?
A: Yes. It does not say “you” or “your” which would limit it to Conan.
84 Speed of Hot Passion Action UR
Q: Can this card affect an Ally?
A: No. It says “you” which limits it to Conan.
89 Elbow to the Throat Move VC
If this move hits, (i.e. unblocked) for Conan, the Foe’s owner must discard the cards before Initiative 5 is resolved.
90 Feint Move VC
Q: The card feint, how does it work for foe? There's no instructions for the foe to define the '?' icon, does it mean that if you play this move for a foe it's considered to have no icons? Also, why would you want to use the foe ability to lose 1 health?
A: Unfortunately, yes... it has no icons when used by a Foe... and why you'd want to lose a Health? Well... you can't lose Health just because you want to when you play a move... so normally, if a Foe loses Health to play a move, you have to assume it's a bigger move (i.e. more dangerous)... so you can make Conan afraid, and perhaps over commit (spending Prowess to do so) only to reveal that it was in fact a feint!
Q: What if I am unable to replace the Feint, or discard a card for its ability?
A: The feint is discarded, and may create a situation where the move it was played against is now unblocked.
91 Forceful Lunge Move VC
If this move hits an Ally, it does not trigger the Foe text.
If this move hits, (i.e. unblocked) for a Foe, that Foe may Heal up to 2 Health before Initiative 5 is resolved.
98 Bestial Fury Move C
The artist on this card is Cary Nord, not Paul Lee.
100 Dagger Toss Move C
If this move hits, (i.e. unblocked) for Conan, the Foe’s owner must discard the cards before Initiative 5 is resolved.
103 Desperate Lunge Move C
This move should say “Foe (Stygia):”
110 Menacing Advance Move C
Q: What if this move defeats two Minor Foes?
A: You still only gain a total of 2 Prowess. It would need to say “Gain 2 Prowess for each Minor Foe this Move defeats.” for that to happen.
119 Axe Throw Move U
If this move hits, (i.e. unblocked) for Conan, the Foe’s move is -1 Initiative before Initiative 5 is resolved.
117 Thundering Charge Move C
Q: What if Mercenary Knight plays this card? Will Conan gain Prowess?
A: No, while the Ally may use Conan text on Mounted moves, the Ally would be the one to gain the Prowess, and has no way to do so, so the text is ineffective.
128 Sweeping Slash Move U
If this move hits, (i.e. unblocked) for Conan, you gain the Prowess before Initiative 5 is resolved.
131 Cimmerian Fury Move R
This move should say “Foe (Cimmeria):”
133 Double Stab Move R
The artist on this card is Pablo Kousovitis, not Cary Nord.
135 Each Foe a Potential Weapon Move R
If this move hits, (i.e. unblocked) for Conan, you may apply its text before Initiative 5 is resolved. If you do, this move deals NO Damage. If you use this move’s text, the Foe’s move is discarded.
143 Spring from the Shadows Move R
You may lose 2 Prowess and draw a card any time this is played by Conan, not only if it’s played against a Sorcerer Foe.
144 Tremendous Cleave Move R
This move should say “Foe (Cimmeria):”
146 Go for the Throat! Move UR
If this move hits, (i.e. unblocked) for a Foe, they can discard the item before Initiative 5 is resolved.

Q: What if Ghost Snake hits an Ally?
A: Conan has not been hit, and may Press On.
156 Thing of Fire and Earth Foe F
If this Foe only has 1 wound, it can still Heal that wound during the Survey Phase.
161 Keshani Shaman Foe VC
NOTE - This is a change. This Foe’s text currently says, “May deal base Damage to Conan’s Prowess for each magic icon that hits Conan.” This should instead read, “For each magic icon on Keshani Shaman’s move that hits Conan and/or Allies, you may deal base Damage to their Prowess.”
169 Kushite Lion Foe C
Q: What if there are two Kushite Lions in play?
A: Conan must play moves to both of them before playing any other moves.
Q: What about Allies?
A: Allies are not affected by the Kushite Lion’s restriction.
176 Bat Demon Foe U
Q: How does this Foe work with Allies?
A: If Conan places NO move against this Foe, it cannot use its ability, even if an Ally placed a move. If Conan places one move, and an Ally places one move, the Bat Demon can use it’s ability, probably making the Ally’s move useless.
181 Necromancer Foe U
NOTE - This is a change. This Foe’s text currently says, “Conan loses 3 Prowess for every magic icon Necromancer hits him with.” This should instead read, “Conan and Allies lose 3 Prowess for every magic icon on Necromancer’s move that hits them.”
